    Around the world, so many people love to experience the feeling of scare. Horror movies, scary stories or ghost trains are all different things that make us scared. 

    However, certain places are also a major source that arouses such feeling. In this article, the ten selected destinations are beyond fiction, where the paranormal is part of everyday life. Such sites shake the most reckless. Some even asserted that they met ghosts. 

    Here is a dreadful list of the 10 haunted places around the world.

    Among them, the Second Lord of Glamis, inveterate player who would have been walled alive during a game of cards, or Dame Janet Douglas, sentenced for witchcraft.

    Nailed on the tree trunks, you will also meet some evil voodoo dolls.

    The Tower of London is one of the most visited monuments in Britain. It was built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror to protect the city. After that, it became a prison where many people were executed. 

    Today, it seems that its ghosts of the past resurface; namely, Anne Boleyn, one of the companions of Henry VIII (or Henry VI) decapitated near the Tower.

    Built in the 13th century to protect Oslo, Akershus Castle has seen many twists and turns during its history. 

    Today, its interior would be inhabited by spirits. While, its entrance would be guarded by the ghost of a dog, Malcanisten, which was buried alive near the fortress. 

    The latter would bark when a person tries to enter the castle. Moreover, an evil horse would also be heard at night, terrorizing the surroundings.

    The Castle of Commarque, in the Dordogne, houses a legend worthy of a romantic film, with more ghosts. 

    More than 500 years ago, Count Comarque's daughter fell in love with her father's rival's son. To prevent their relationship, the Count locked the young lover in the dungeon of the castle and then beheaded him. 

    Today, you would still hear the ghost of the young man's horse wandering in search of his master.

    In the depths of Colorado at Estes Park, the Stanley Hotel inspired Stephen King to write his horror novel Shining: the Child of Light. 

    The writer, who spent a night in this hotel, had a terrible nightmare in which his son was pursued by a fire hose. It was this nightmare that gave birth to his novel and, later, Stanley Kubrick's film. 

    Even today, you can sleep in one of the most haunted hotels in America, Stanley Hotel.

    In the Xochimilco region of Mexico, the dolls on the island of Muñecas would not make any child dream. 

    A resident of the island has been accumulated and hung on the trees after being hit by the drowning death of a girl in a canal. 

    Over the years, the inhabitants continued the work, to the point of cracking the trees under the weight of her dolls without being reassured.

    North of Philadelphia, in the United States, is an imposing penitentiary center. Opened in 1829, it sheltered the famous Al Capone and many prisoners sentenced to the most total isolation. 

    Before, the prison revolutionized its environment by prohibiting corporal punishment for the first time. 

    Torture was committed there and it seems that the souls of the former prisoners still roam between the walls of this building.

    Although it is located in the lagoon of Venice, you will not find any tourist on the island of Poveglia. The latter is closed to the public because it was deemed accursed. 

    During the Renaissance, people affected by the plague were buried or burned on the island. Their souls would still roam today, not far from the city of the Doges. Later, it was a psychiatric hospital that was built in Poveglia, and many patients lived their last days at that place.
