On Twitter and other social media, many netizens were complaining near the broadcast of episode 3 of Game of Thrones - Season 8. The image is much too dark, especially during the long-awaited Battle of Winterfell, they growled.

Plenty of tweets reflect the serious complaint of viewers and regret the lack of legibility of certain scenes. “We do not see anything”, some of them claimed on Twitter. “Can the Director turn on the light?” add others jeeringly.

If Episode 3 is too Dark, it is the Spectators' Fault

In an interview, Fabian Wagner, the episode Director of photography assured that the problem is due to viewers. “The problem is that many people do not know how to set their TV properly,” confirmed the Manager.

“Unfortunately, many people also watch on small iPads, which does not do justice to a work of that kind,” added Wagner. He admitted however that the lack of light of certain scenes is also due to the shooting, which happened at night.

“We have seen so many battle scenes over the years. For this (episode) to really make an impact and to honor the characters, you must find a unique way to describe the story,” continued the Director. “All we wanted people to see is there. I do not always have to see what's going on; it's more a question of emotional impact,” he elaborated.

Fabian Wagner added that “Game of Thrones is a cinematic show.” Therefore, to watch an episode of the series in optimal conditions, it is necessary to “watch it as in the cinema: in a dark room.”

“If you look at a night scene in a very bright room, it's not possible to see the picture properly,” said Wagner. If you are about to watch the episode, we invite you to slightly increase the brightness of your TV and caulk you in a room plunged into darkness.
